Absolutely delighted with this saw! I had a great old Craftsman table saw for 20 years--solid as can be, but heavy as an anvil. If I had a barn or large workshop to store it in, I would have kept it. But we just have an ordinary garage and I had to store the heavy, cast-iron beast partially disassembled in an inconvenient spot. Which meant that I rarely bothered to pull it out and reassemble it. On most occasions when I really should have used it, I tended to make do with some less appropriate saw just to avoid the hassle. I finally "saw" the light, sold the old Craftsman and purchased the DW745. Although my tool-geek side preferred one of the larger, more powerful models (e.g. DW7480), I disciplined myself to purchase the model that realistically fits my actual needs--and has the small size and lighter weight objectively fit my situation. The rack and pinyon fence system is my favorite feature, but I like almost everything about it. My only complaint is how difficult access to the screws is to adjust the riving knife. However that is not often required. BTW, I built a small "break-down-able" stand for this saw so that it stands solidly at the exact height I prefer when I use it. It cost half the price of the "official" De Walt stand for this saw and is customized to my needs. Plus it was fun to use the saw to build its own stand!

Definitely a great saw at $350. Cuts really well and I can already tell a big difference from my last saw (Harbor Freight), which says a lot because I do not use my saw often. It would be nice if the clamp stored somewhere on the saw like the wrench does, and because of how the lock on the shaft of the clamp is designed it can't even be locked down to the back of the saw, it must be in contact with the front of the saw. So when not in use or secured to the front of the saw it is just flopping around. I really do not find myself using the clamp that often anyway, but I would be more inclined if there was a cam system or something better than a threaded rod that made it easier to use. I have seen some other reviews that had concern about the plastic cam being exposed when stored, and I agree with the concern. The saw has excellent features, but does not seemed to have every aspect of use nailed down.

Needed a reciprocating saw for a home improvement, and between always using an 18V DeWalt saw at work, and wanting to grow my personal DeWalt 20V collection, I knew this is what I needed. This saw is cosmetically similar to the 18V I have at work, with the biggest functional differences (aside from 18V to 20V) being the 4 position blade holder which allows for even closer flush cuts and a little more adjustability out of the shoe. I've pruned trees, cut all sorts of dimensional lumber, cut bolts and angle iron, aluminum flat stock, even Telespar (the square sign post with all the holes in it). May just be my mind, but seems to have a smoother cut stroke than the 18V I've used. Originally only had the 1.5Ah 20V batteries which only would last for a few dozen cuts at most, but the 4.0Ah batteries I recently purchased are great for this saw and allow me to go up to a week been charges (at least with my use), the 4.0Ah batteries also balance out the weight of the saw nicely. Just as a reminder, this is a bare tool. No batteries, no charger, no blades, just an awesome saw ready to accept your existing 20V batteries. I've used DeWalt, Milwaukee, and Bosch blades all with great success, your results may vary.
